He says the best thing about Africa is culture and pride and that his favourite place outside of Nigeria is South Africa, which he calls his “home away from home”.

Beverly And I Are Staying Together - Bimp

Bimp Beamlak Tesfaye Haile was the Ethiopian contestant at the last Big Brother Africa reality show. To many, he was a strategist and a controversial person, especially with rumours about him being in a relationship with Nigerian representative, Beverly. He spoke, in an interview, with Nigerian Tribune about his relationship with Beverly, why he relocated to Nigeria, his career and style, among other things.

What makes your culture unique from others?
A lot of things, for instance, our calendar is different from the rest of the world. At the moment, we are in 2005, because we use a calendar that is eight years behind the Gregorian calendar. Our months are different from the likes of January, February and others.

What were you into prior to BBA?
I owned a company back home, which I was running with two Italian partners. The company’s name was Quadreluce and we dealt in interior designs, but then things changed. So, I can say that I have seen the best of both worlds. I’ve had everything and I have experienced not having anything. So now I’m working towards having everything by myself.

It seemed like you had a strategy back in the House and had every step planned out...
I didn’t have a strategy, or maybe I had strategies without actually planning them. I remember that I used to be even stressed out because I didn’t have a strategy and BBA used to tell me when I visited the diary room to get one. But I used to think about my move, but I wouldn’t say that I had a strategy. For instance people thought I swapped Bassey because I was strategising, but it was because he was the least closest person to me then.

What did you decide to relocate to Nigeria?
I am here to see what is available to me. I have never been an entertainer, but I tried BBA because of a close friend of mine and I made it. The chase began when I left the house and I think I have enough opportunities to chase my dreams here in Nigeria and here I am. Every facet of entertainment I would do, as long as the chance presents itself, but I’m more of a business person than an entertainer. So I intend to start up a business in Nigeria.

Having put Bassey on the chopping block, how did you both end up being buddies after BBA?
We didn’t really work it out, it worked itself out. We both knew that none of us had malicious issues towards each other. It was not like I hated him, I just did what I had to do. But it was shocking to realise when I came out, that Bassey had said that he would put me on fire. I was hurt because I didn’t expect that. I can’t be blamed, it is Africa that didn’t vote to keep him in. But as time went on, we resolved it, but Bassey actually gave me hell, before it eventually worked itself out.

What is going on between you and Beverly?
We are very close, have always been closer than every other person in the House. Was there sexual tension back then? Yes. But I had a girlfriend then and chose to be faithful to her. Now, I am no longer with my girlfriend and I can’t continue to be faithful to an ex.
Beverly and I are staying together, we see every day, so are we together?, we would both find out together and I would prefer that people keep guessing for a little longer.

When there is something to say about us, we will say it.

People believe that you caused the rift between Beverly and her best friend, Charity?
People had the wrong impression about the whole thing. I read about different things and also got to know that people felt that I was trying to come between Angelo and Beverly’s relationship while in the House. Why would I do that? It was obvious when we were in the house that I was not the one pursing Beverly, but Beverly pursuing me. And I was the one that pushed her into being with Angelo, so I don’t know why people would say that I wanted them to break up.

So about me and charity, she was a close friend of Beverly, so automatically, we became friends as well. People say that me being with her was what ruined their friendship, but I wouldn’t know. Obviously, they are not as close as they were before, but they have their reasons for that.

What did BBA teach you and what memories of the show do you hold dear?
One thing I learnt in the House was that we as Africans are the same, although we like to focus on our differences, we do things similarly. In terms of memories, I can never forget the day I solved the mystery. I was the only one that could solve it and it was one of the best moments in the house for me, because I love being the smart one.

How was the reception back in Ethiopia after BBA?
My country is not really keen for shows and I had that it was the same in Tanzania. The only people waiting for me at the airport were a few of my family members.

So, how is the entertainment industry back there?
It is not as big as it is here in Nigeria, but it is growing. I think I was the third Ethiopian to be in the house, but I know with time, it will get better.

How was living under the eye of the camera for millions of people to see?
I hate cameras, but what kept me in the House was the thought of winning the money.

What would you have done with the money if you had won?
I would have invested it. I would have opened a club and I am still looking forward to doing that.

What were your childhood dreams?
I wanted to be a soldier, but then I realised that it wasn’t easy. Then I would have also loved to be an astronaut, and I still even have the dream of going to space someday.

What has Nigeria taught you?
Lagos has frustrated life out me. Although I love it because it is fun, but some things can be frustrating because at times, people just take advantage of the fact that you don’t speak pidgin, or because you have an accent. Other than that, I love everything about Nigeria.

So, do you intend to settle down with a Nigerian?
No, I don’t intend to settle down with any woman or have children, because I have lost my faith in women.

Don’t you think you are too young to say that?
Yes and that is why I want to keep on having fun. I have always had this mentality since I was a child that marriages don’t last. Except for that of my grandparents, who were the most romantic couples I had ever seen; they still went out on dates even when they were over 80. But, these days, there are lot of divorces out there and many people are so unhappy in their marriages.

What wouldn’t you be caught doing?
I will never be caught doing what I don’t approve of,  like beating a woman, disrespecting people or being in an explicit video.

What about your videos from the BBA?
I was never naked in the house. I knew what I was doing.

How do you relax?
I love to read a lot. I would read anything, to the extent that I read manuals, prints on clothes and anything at all.

Bimp Breaks Up With Ethiopian Girlfriend

According to reliable sources, BBA The Chase contestant Bimp Tesfaye has decided to call it quits with his long-term Ethiopian girlfriend.

Bimp made the decision basing on the fact that even though he had been faithful to her by refusing to have anything with other women even in the BBA house, she on the other hand was busy getting with other men, and has been taking advantage of the time Bimp spent away from home to enjoy countless flings.

On finding out, Bimp has resolved to move and stay in Nigeria permanently, and has even refused to give the broken relationship a fixing chance.

Bimp however, continues to deny claims that fellow BBA housemate and bestie Beverly Osu, may have caused the breakup, considering that he spends a lot of time with her in Nigeria.

According to him, Beverly and him are just friends, and she didn't at any one time get in the way of his romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

Dillish & Melvin Star In Nollywood Romance Movie

Big Brother Africa 2013 winner, Dillish Mathews is in Nigeria shooting a romantic movie in which she plays the lead role alongside Melvin. The reality TV star has been travelling since exiting the reality show and recently finished shooting a music video with Nigerian music star Flavour, titled 'Ikwokrikwo'.

The West African country is known as the home of African entertainment, as aspiring actors and musicians flock there for a piece of the Nollywood dream.

"The movie we are shooting is titled 'Amber'. It's about a woman who falls in love and on her wedding day the groom fails to show up because he is being blackmailed. I'm shooting alongside my fellow ex-housemate Melvin Oduah and one of the biggest actors in Nigeria, Nonso Diobi. I'm very excited as it will be my first time starring in a movie of this kind.

"The director, Shedrack, is one of the best in Nollywood and is very skilled in his craft."

The movie will premiere first in Nigeria, then in Namibia and lastly the United Kingdom, all of which will happen in April, she said.

"The movie industry in Nigeria is booming and receiving worldwide recognition. It will definitely open billions of doors for me."

When The Namibian asked her about any upcoming business projects in the West African nation, Dillish said she is not sure if she wants to invest in businesses in Nigeria just yet.

"I'm not sure about venturing into business there but right now but I'm talking to (Nigerian) people to invest in film production in Namibia because they are extremely successful in this field."

Dillish says she never auditioned for the role and decided to star in the movie after the director kept saying she was perfect for the role.

"I have about six more movies lined up and it will be crazy busy for the next seven months. Also look out for my lip gloss and lipstick line that will be launched on the 14th of February," she said.

'Nigerians Broke My Relationship With Angelo' - Beverly Opens Up

Anyone who watched BBA season 8 (The Chase) would know Beverly Osu to be a talker without any bother in the world. Her subjects of conversation in the house had no borders too – she talked about anything there is to be talked about and calls out anyone there is to be called out. It was the reason some viewers (Nigerians or not) didn’t like her in the house and the same reason many favourited her.

Sadly, the young woman thinks Nigerians didn’t let her last in the arms of the only prize she took out of the BBA house – Angelo. But she has since moved on with her life. And with a new modeling deal with cosmetic brand, Prestige Cosmetics and fellow housemate Bimp constantly by her side, Angelo is the least person on Ms Osu’s list, it would seem.

The two BBA stars spoke to Hip Hop World Magazine about their relationship, insisting they are only ‘close’ friends, as against popular belief.

What is your relationship with Bimp?

We are close, everybody knows this right from the house. People think we are dating because he is always in Nigeria but we are good friends. Can’t I have a friend that is a boy?

What’s up with you and Angelo now?

We have broken up. Is it not Nigerians that caused it?

How did Nigerians cause it?

Today, one paper will say Beverly is with this man, tomorrow another paper will say another thing, I don’t know.

You and your friend/former manager Charity Owoh reportedly fought over Bimp, how true?

We are good; there is no issue between us. Yes, she was my manager but it’s just that we were mixing business with pleasure so I had to get another manager who is level headed and would take things serious that’s all. I’m hardly around so we don’t see each other most of the time.

How would you react to the criticism that trailed the sexual picture you used on your Christmas card?

Apparently, that picture was taken two years ago. I had deleted it from my page but later put it back on my own Instagram page, and people started insulting their forefathers thinking that they are insulting me and I was just laughing. Are they the ones that paid for my photo shoot?  Everybody has their own way of celebrating Christmas and that is why own way so I don’t understand how my own will be affecting someone’s soul. Anyway let them continue talking.

A video vixen (Vanetta Akpofure) named you the worse dressed celebrity, do you agree?

Now I want to talk about that issue. Two days after the Big Brother Africa show, I had not stepped out from where MNET kept me because I had a bad leg and was taking treatment for it and when I came back I heard about the  comment and I’m wondering where she saw me. Did she see me in her dreams? If it’s paining her she should buy me a fine dress since she is the best dressed celebrity.

Bimp had this to say:

You are frequent to Nigeria these days, why?

It’s my third time back here, I love Nigeria and I always want to come back. Nigeria has been treating me really really good but it is hot here.

What have you been doing after BBA?

I’m still working on that TV show that I’ve always talked about; One Love, One Blood, One Africa. I’m going to do some movies too hopefully, trying something on music. I have a company back in Ethiopia and I want to bring it down here in Nigeria. I’m trying to enter every business .The chase starts now!

What kind of business is it?

The company is owned by me and two other Italians, it’s an Italian based company called Quadra Luce and Designs. We provide interior designs; we design clubs, hotels, apartments, and we also provide electronics, and lightings, sound system for clubs, events and furniture too. So if you want anything just give me a call.

Are you both dating Beverly?

Bev and I are really close. To be with someone you see 24 hours a day in a house for three months and not getting to know the person better is not easy. You’ll realise that you will have a bond different from the friends you have out there. So we are close, I know a lot of people are speculating about us dating but we are really close.

Do you have a girlfriend?

No, not right now. I did have a girlfriend, I stayed true to her and Africa knows. But when I got back home, I discovered some things about her and she was cheating while I was away. So we had to end it.

Would anything happen between you and Beverly?

Hopefully, you never know. Who knows what tomorrow brings? Now that my relationship has ended, we’ll see. But for now, we are close, more like family.
