Task: Freeze!

Biggie cranked things up a notch this week by introducing the Freeze Task. Courtesy of the task brief, new HoH Idris told Hotshots that at any time of the day or night Biggie may instruct the housemates to freeze. The moment housemates hear Biggie’s voice telling them to freeze, they all must do exactly that, stopping whatever they are doing at that point in time and remaining in that position.

Housemates may only move once Biggie’s voice tells them to unfreeze. During the freeze period, they may not make any movements.

It sounded like a lot of fun and would definitely create a lot of giggling in the house and for fans watching the housemates stuck in awkward positions. But Biggie upped the ante of the game, making it exciting for fans and nerve-wracking for the housemates, because any housemate who was caught moving before Biggie gave the unfreeze command would be automatically put for nomination the following week.

Trezagah seemed very worried about the task, even more so when his fellow housemates clarified the game, explaining that when frozen he would not even be allowed to pull a face, let alone take a drink or lie down. The housemates who love to nap, particularly Butterphly, should get flying colours in this task. It certainly got the housemates chattering, and Mr. 265 said he would not freeze and would rather just risk being up for nomination.

Housemates were already teasing each other, yelling “freeze” throughout the house and deciding they should take it easy so that they would not be caught in a position which would make it difficult to stay frozen.

Task: The Next Big Thing!

Briefed on their next task, Biggie wasn't making things easy for the housemates. Instructed to compose new works of art, he asked them to make a list of any instruments or props they may need for their performance.

Whatever their talent, Biggie said he wanted fresh material: new poems from the poets, original songs from the singers and freshly-choreographed pieces from the dancers. If these housemates want to be hotshots, they have to prove they've got what it takes.

Confusion reigned as the housemates asked Laveda to repeat the task instructions, wondering what they would do if they were models or presenters. Tension crept in as Laveda said she thought it was more of a musical-oriented show, leaving those not musically inclined somewhat disgruntled.

Nevertheless, they got into the spirit of things, clapping and drumming on the dining table, while Esther, Ellah and Luis started swaying their hips in a combined dance. They forgot it was not a group effort and also spent a lot of time talking about what they were going to do, instead of doing it. Practise is integral to performance, and the housemates may have been taking it too easy, dreaming about red carpets and stars emblazoned with their names.

Whatever they end up showing Africa, this task will give the housemates another chance to show off their talents. The house is turning into the platform the representatives said they were seeking, but now it’s up to them to earn their spot on the stage.

Task: Creative Poster Designing

The first Wager Task was briefed in and in a battle to showcase their special talents, the aspiring Hotshots would have to brand themselves in creative poster.

Every Hotshots worth their talent didn't get there without hard work and shameless self-promotion. The Housemates were Tasked to don their artistic caps on, which shouldn't be hard for this talented bunch, and design a poster that captures their talent and why they deserve the adoration of countless fans.

Last night, during the Launch Show, the audience and viewers were treated to an exclusive talent show. Housemates were each challenged to out-perform each other to win over the over audience vote.

Laveda's alluring ballad on the saxophone surprised and impressed the crowd landing her the top-spot and bagging her the first Head of House position of the season.

She had most certainly become a factor in the game and competition to look out for.

Other outstanding performances included Sabina and Arthur's side-splitting stand-up comedy as well as M'am Bea's live fashion design. We reckon these acts scored points on originality.

This was an opportunity for those who may have lost their nerve on stage, like Frankie, or couldn’t quite impress. Talent simply doesn’t sell itself.

Singer Samantha, dancer Goitse, poet Resa found a work station and put their tools to good use. But they weren't alone as the rest were just as eager to sell themselves. The Housemates have wagered 100% for this task.

Entertainment is the name of the game, and talent is only a small part of the work done because, as the old saying goes, talent is nothing without hard work.

Who do you think has enough creativity to express their talent? We could only hope that their talent us matched with hard and smart work.

Task: Stop, drop and roll.

After rising from the ashes of a fire like a phoenix, Big Brother recognises the importance of following the safe route were a fire to break out, save from avoiding it of course.

As the new Housemates enjoy one another’s company huddled over shared slices of golden French toast, it seems a feat that the moment is finally here. But the memory of the fire that pushed the Launch back isn’t quite such a distant memory.

While being a Hotshot comes with breaking some rules, health and safety rules are ones the Biggie won’t abide any breaking of.

Frist Head of House Laveda was given the Task Brief and read it out to the troops – mispronouncing a few names along the way - as they all geared themselves up for the onset of the drill.

In case of a fire, one needs to know where to duck a dive, and how to safely do so, and since this would be a week of firsts the time was ripe for a first fire drill.

For today’s drill Housemates are given the Task of dousing the supposed fire that flares out in the garden. The source of the fire is the stove and at the sound of the siren Housemate must use the fire extinguishers to snuff out the flames.

In order to do this, Housemates must remove the pin, aim the extinguisher at the fire and push down the lever.

The Housemates were then to gather at the garden doors and wait patiently for them to be opened in order to exit the House safely, and because this was only a drill the doors were not opened.

In the event of a fire Big Brother would always lead the Housemates to safety via fire escape routes, should the ways of the drill not apply.

The siren went off and sure enough Housemates followed suits. Who knew it would be so easy to avoide a fire? Now as we wait for the first Wager to kick start the game.

25 housemates are up for possible eviction this week. Click here to vote for your favourite housemate.
